Sardine Bhurji (Scrambled Sardines)

A protein-rich twist on the classic egg bhurji.

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 1 can Munnujii Sardines, drained & flaked
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, chopped (optional)
  • ½ tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp oil or ghee
  • Salt & coriander leaves

Tips

  • Always drain sardines gently to avoid breaking the fillets too much.
  • Use the oil or sauce from the can to boost flavour .
  • Fresh herbs (coriander, mint, dill) brighten up sardine dishes instantly.
Method
    1. Heat oil in a pan, sauté onion & green chilli until soft.
    2. Add ginger-garlic paste, tomato, turmeric, chilli powder; cook till tomato breaks down.
    3. Add sardines, mash lightly, stir for 2–3 min.
    4. Garnish with coriander and serve with pav, chapati, or toasted bread.
